I signed Josiah soccer this year and he has been having a blast at practice. I thought his favorite thing about practice has been playing duck duck goose at the end, but I just asked him and he said trying to get the ball in the goal. My little boy is growing up.
The coach asked them a few weeks ago what they wanted to be called and the kids came up with the monkeys. He had suggested other things and several would always say no, and then one kids said monkeys and they all agreed. So we are the monkeys this year and I think that is a great name b/c I am always calling him my little monkey (Although Elaina is my climber).

We had pictures before I game and we had to be there by 8:00. Yeah, Elaina was not to happy about that. She did let me get her dressed and then she grabbed her paci and blanket and I put her in her car seat. Neither of my kids move very fast in the mornings and need several minutes with just their cups before they even want to think about eating breakfast. Thankfully Josiah woke up on his own around 6:45 and instead of putting him back to bed like I normally would I told him that he could come lay in our bed and watch cartoons. That paired with the excitement of his 1st soccer game and he was ready to go when it was time to get moving.

We got there and got his uniform and found out that they were the gray team. I got him dressed (in is way to big uniform) and we went over to get his pictures made. He was all shy kid and didn't want to have his picture made. I was trying to tuck in his shirt back in but little Miss Elaina refused to let me sit her down. Thankfully one of the other parents tucked it in for me. He acted a little shy but they were able to get a good picture of him. Well I guess getting his picture made woke him up bc all the shyness left. They were trying to get him to line up by a kids and he decided that he needed to be in the middle so that is where he went, but I think that worked out for the best b/c he is the tallest. They he decided to dance around and then he would walk back up to his spot for a few seconds and let them take a few pictures then it was back to dancing. Yes he was "that kid" in the pictures, but as one of the other moms, who is a kindergarten teacher, said that it is ok at 3 if he were 12 and acting that way then he would really be "that kid"

After pictures we went over to the field to get ready for the game. Elaina finally was ready to eat her breakfast, so I gave her a cup of cereal. Josiah ran around with his team and got ready for his game. I tucked his shirt in about 15 times before I gave up and just left it out. All the kids get to play a total of 12 minutes broken up into 4 minute period. Josiah was in the 3rd group so he played the 3rd, 6th, & 9th period.

He had so much fun. He was super excited that he made a score. His 1st goal was a true goal that he beat everyone down the field and kicked the ball in the goal. The next goal he scored was a little more nontraditional. He was kicking the ball down the field and everyone caught up to him as the ball was going out of bounds. Well he ended up in the middle of the group and he was using his shoulders to nudge the other kids out of his way to get to the ball. The coaches were trying to get the ball too so they could reset the ball and start over since it had went out of bounds. Well Josiah decided that he was the only one that was going to get the ball. He dropped to his knees and crawled to get the ball. Once he got the ball the crawled back out of the mess of people and threw it into the goal. Everyone laughed and said that he is very persistent.

Of course he found the one puddle on the field and fell in it twice; both times were actually an accident. He was soaked by the end of the game. I learned that you need to bring a full change of clothes to his games. Including underwear and socks, because I had to strip him down and just put on a pair of windpants on him just to get him in the van.

We all had a lot of fun and I can't wait till his next game. It is so fun to watch 3 & 4 year old kids play soccer. Oh and what soccer game would be complete without a game of tackle hug? Their game of tackle hug just happened to take place when they were suppose to be shaking the other teams hands.
