Shaving Cream marble paper/Fun Mess

A few weeks ago, I saw a craft where you make marbleized paper using food coloring and shaving cream.  It showed brightly colored paper as a finish result.  Well that is not what we got, but the kids had fun.

Add drops of colored water to plate of shaving cream.
Use stick to swirl color around
Press paper lightly onto shaving cream
Remove paper from shaving cream and add more color to cream if needed and repeat
Carefully scrape shaving cream off paper and let dry.
The paper didn't dry as bright as it looks in the picture above.  The kids soon got tired of making the paper and decided that they would rather play in the shaving cream.  That part was the most fun to watch.  I tried to get Elaina to sit in her high chair so she could reach everything better but she wanted to sit in the regular chair.  As you can tell they both had a blast.
"painting" the trays with shaving cream
He said he was putting on his shoulder pads.  I have no idea
Look at us mom!!
Can you tell they had fun?
Just to saw you how much fun they had.
Of course they ended up having to take a bath.  That is the joy of shaving cream crafts.  The clean up is so easy.  I was able to quickly clean up the mess while they played in the tub.  All I had to do was throw away the paper and wipe the table and chairs with a damp cloth, and the chairs in the kitchen were actually cleaner after the craft than they were before.

Snow Day

Today we got a little snow.  The kids were so excited, so we bundled up to play in it.  They had the best time running around the yard.  We started out in the front yard and then moved to the back.

Josiah wanted to ride his jeep around and of course he had a little passenger.  Elaina wanted to swing in her swing but it was full of snow and water so I wouldn't let her.  She had to find other things to play with.  They both had a blast.  Josiah was ready to go in when I told them it was time (mainly because his mittens were wet); but Elaina, not so much.  She threw a fit not wanting to come in.  She laid down in the floor screaming while I was taking off her wet clothes.

It really starting coming down while we were getting ready for lunch.  I got the idea to sit out some bowls to collect snow so that we could make snow ice cream.  I kind of wish that we would have waited and went out when it was snowing really hard, but the kids enjoyed playing when we did so that is all that mattered.

Josiah kept looking out the window telling me that the bowl was getting full.  He was so excited to make ice cream.  I was afraid that he would take a nap, so I let him sleep in our bed to prevent him just staring out the window watching the snow.

After both kids got up and had time to wake up a little I went and got the bowls of snow.  I was able to gather a little extra off the table that the bowl.  I gave the kids a little bit of the snow to play with while I mixed the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla with the snow.  Josiah had fun playing with it and Elaina didn't like it at all.  I thought I would take a picture of them playing with the snow at the table and she started SCREAMING.  She was so mad that I took her picture.

They both enjoyed their ice cream.  Shortly after we ate our ice cream, we got bundled up to g back out and play in what was left of the snow.  Trey got home early because they let school out an hour early, so he got to play some with the kids.  They really had fun once daddy got home.

We really enjoyed our snow.  We are suppose to get hit by an ice storm tonight, but the latest report looks like it might move just south of us.  While I wouldn't mind Trey having a snow day, I am not fired up at the thought of all the problems that come with an ice storm; loss of electricity, iced in the house bc it is to slick to go outside, etc.  I guess we will see what happens over night.

Catch Up

Wow! I can't believe that I have not posted since the 5th.  We have had a lot happen since then.

To start Trey hurt his back at work and was bed ridden for 3 days and then was slow going for about a week after that.  I must say that the kids were wonderful during all that.  Josiah really seemed to understand that daddy was hurt and couldn't be his personal trampoline.  He was even afraid to give his daddy a hug.  He was so scared that he would hurt him more.  Of course Elaina is going to do what ever Josiah does, so Trey was actually safe.

The following weekend Trey had a conference in Hot Springs and my parents came up.  My job was easy that weekend.  Neither kid cared what I did, because they had grandparents.  My dad was wanting a recumbent bike to help strengthen his knee and found one up here.  It was a display one so it was already put together.  The kids LOVED that, well until they started fighting over it and daddy put it in the back of Trey's truck.  Josiah came to me crying that Papaw wouldn't let him exercise any more.

Well Josiah decided that he needed to daycare so he needed to go home with Grandma.  We decided to let him so I could focus on potty training Elaina.  She is doing really well, but I think that we left the house to soon with her.  She got scared when an automatic flushing toilet flushed with her on it.  She does NOT like to potty in bathrooms other than the house now.  I have come to the conclusion that the only thing that automatic flushing toilets are good for are scaring kids.  They never want to flush when someone is done using them, but they will flush 100 time while a kids is using one.

Elaina is doing really well with the potty training.  She will tell you pee pee all the time, but she does get a little too busy playing so you have to remind her.   She does get a little upset about having to go into a public restroom, but hopefully she will over come that fear soon as we have been able to go into more restrooms that do not have automatic flushing toilets.
Notice that he is holding his bottom up in the air as he pedals the bike

Josiah gets just as excited as Elaina when she pottys.  He thinks that he will get a prize if she does, so he is her biggest cheerleader.  Tonight I had to make him clean up the living room so she could play with her play her play dough prize that she got tonight.  He did get to play with it some but we wanted her to get to play with it first.
Proud of her big girl panties

I also have preschool Valentines party and a really neat craft that I want to blog about, but  I going to save that for another post.  Oh I also have figured out the bedding for the baby, but I am going to wait till I get it in before I post about that.

Pretty in Pink with a side of Spiky hair

This morning I decided to get the kids dressed before I started getting ready for preschool.  I gave Josiah a few options to choose from and he picked his clothes out and got dressed.  As he was getting dressed told Elaina that we needed to go get her clothes and she said pink.  So I pick out her pink pants and a shirt that would match and she was happy to get dressed.  She pointed at her toes and started yelling pink. So I went to get her some pink socks and decided to let her choose between 2 pairs.  Well she wanted both, but after a small battle she finally chose a pair and was trying to put them on herself.

After they were dressed, I went to finish getting ready.  Elaina followed me to the bath room and climbed up on the bench.  She was just a chattering as I put on my make up and I really didn't understand her at all.  When I started brushing my hair, she got real excited and started yelling hair, hair and pointing to her hair.  I asked her if she wanted me to fix her hair and she said yes.  I brushed it and she had the biggest smile.

I then asked her is she wanted a bow and to my surprise she said yes.  I told her I would go get her a little one and she said pink.  I picked up a pale pink one with white dots and a bright rainbow one that had a lot of hot pink in it and she chose the pale pink one.  So I put it in her hair and she just beamed and went to find Josiah to show him.

As soon as he saw it he decided that he needed spiky hair.  So we went and got the mousse to fix his hair.  He said that he needed spike all over so I did the best I could and he was as happy as could be.

This is the best I could get when I told them to stand by each other so I could get a picture.  I was actually impressed to get one this good.  If I would have been a half second faster then I might have gotten it before the finger went in the mouth.

And of course once Elaina realized I was taking pictures you get the picture of her saying cheese which always makes her eyes close.  I then tired to take pictures with my phone to send Trey, but for some reason it would not work.  Those attempts had both of them putting their fingers in their mouths making silly faces.

I was shocked that Elaina left the bow in her hair all morning.  She wore it all day at preschool and on the playground after.  She didn't even want me to take it off when she took her nap.  Maybe she will wear a bow from time to time now.
