Happy Halloween

Yesterday was a big day for Josiah.  First we had a home football game, it was homecoming and there was a lot going on.  I decided to skip out on a lot of the festivities knowing that it was going to be a long day.  We went of to the Mulegating (SAU's tailgating), but I forgot my camera.  Josiah climbed into one of the bouncy things and played for a little while.  He wanted to go on the big blow up slide thing but the kids that were climbing we very wild.  I would have let him try it if the big kids were not acting so crazy.  I was not afraid that he would fall and get hurt, but afraid that he would climb up and get stuck and I would have to go up and get him; but the wild and crazy kids prevented that.  The entry to the bouncy house was tiny like maybe 2 feet in diameter, and I was thinking how am I going to get Josiah out of this when it is time to go.  He had been playing in it for about 5-10 minutes when another mother had one of the bigger kids in the house bring her baby over to the door so she could her out.  I thought good that is how I will get Josiah out, but to my surprise he decided that he was ready to get out.  He walked over to the door, waited for the little girl to get out of the way, and then he crawled out like a big boy.

After playing in the bouncy house we went down to the game.  I discovered that Josiah no longer likes fireworks.  Why they shoot fire works at a afternoon game I have no idea, but for some reason they always do.  Anyway Josiah was not happy about them, and I was thankful that they only shot them at the beginning and the end of the game, not after every score like they have in years past.  The game started at 2 and Josiah did great considering that he had to have a super early nap.  He was really good till about 5 minutes left in the game, and then he started to get restless.  He almost fell asleep at one point, but we scored and everyone started cheering and that startled him awake.  After that he was not about to go to sleep.  Of course the game went into overtime.  Thankfully this time it was only one over time; last year it went to 5 OTs.  We won by a field goal in over time.  It was a great game and I am proud of all the guys for playing so hard.
Let's Go

After they game we took Josiah trick or treating for the first time.  This year Trey was able to go and Josiah had a blast.  Last year Josiah slept through most of it.  We went to a local church for a trunk or treat and meet up with some friends there.  (yeah I forgot my camera again).  Then we came back to the house and went trick or treating in our neighborhood.  Josiah loved being outside and had a blast with his flash light in his wagon.

and a monkey
After such a long day my little Super Man was exhausted.  He went to bed with out a peep.  I think he was actually relieved that he was finally in bed.

Drink

The other day we gave Josiah a bottle of pedialite to see it he would drink it.  He had not been eating well and we thought that it would be good for him.

He loved it!  He thought he was so big drinking it out of the bottle and not a sippy.
He did a great job with it too.  He really didn't make a mess at all.

Decorating the pumpkins

Since Josiah refused to decorate his pumpkins when we were at the Pumpkin Patch, Trey helped him yesterday.  Well I guess I should say that Josiah only wanted to use the Sharpies to decorate his pumpkins and I was not going to let him use them.  Yesterday he put the stickers on his pumpkin, but I think that he had more fun taking the stickers off and putting them on other things.  We were eventually able to get the pumpkins decorated and sat out on the porch.
Concentrating hard.

LA State Fair

Josiah favorite place to ride

Trey had an off week this week so we decided to go to Shreveport for the day.  We went to the Boardwalk and did a little shopping.  There was a car show at the Boardwalk and Trey and Josiah had fun looking at all the cars while I went into the stores looking for Josiah some pajamas and something for pictures that we will have made after football season.  I was able to find a good deal (buy one get one free) at the Carter's store on some PJs but they only had 1 pair of footie pjs so the other pair is regular ones.  I also found a pair on the clearance rake that said Big Brother so I went ahead and got those too.  After the Boardwalk we went to the LA State Fair.  We didn't ride anything but still had a good time.  It got a little hot when the breeze died down and I starting feeling a little drained.
Josiah is squinting because the sun is bright; I am because my eyes are swollen b/c I have pink eye.

Josiah wanted to push his stroller

We left there and drove across town to go to Sam's and of course Josiah fell asleep right as we got to Sam's.  We put him in his stroller hoping he would stay asleep, but that didn't happen.  There was way to much going on for him to stay asleep.  After Sam's we headed to one of the Casinos for supper, Trey had saw that one of them had whole lobster on the buffet.  Trey said that the lobster was really good, but I don't eat seafood.  The rest of the buffet was really good though.  Josiah loved the mashed potatoes; I think they were his favorite because he could eat those with a spoon.  He loves eating with a spoon or fork now.  I guess I am going to have to remember to take on of his little spork with us when we go out to eat.
We got to see a lot of animals
Trey said to make sure that I pointed out that Josiah was hitting the hog.

We had a really good time and Josiah loved getting to spend the day with his daddy.  We were all really tired and had a lazy day today.  We didn't go to church this morning b/c of my pink eye.  Being out in the open at the fair is one thing, but up close to a bunch of people at church is another.  I would feel awful in I gave this to some one else especially on of the kids.  So we all took long naps this morning to recuperate from our long day.

Bo Bo

When I got at daycare to pick Josiah up this afternoon, I noticed that he had a band-aid on his head.  He was in the buggy so he was not really interested in me being there, and when I asked him about it he looked the other way.  His teacher said that he was running on the playground and fell and hit his head on the sidewalk.  Come on teacher mom, why haven't I taught my son that you don't run at school?  Oh yeah, that's right, he runs EVERYWHERE he goes.  I don't think that my son knows how to walk.  They said that he didn't cry when he fell.  The teacher said that she almost did when she saw all the blood all over his face, but he got him up and took him inside to clean him up.  Once they got it cleaned up, they noticed that it was just a tiny little cut.  They put some ointment on it, and then went to put a band-aid on it.  Yeah that was a mistake, because Josiah HATES band-aids.  If a 17 month old could hate something with a passion that is how he would hate band-aids.  They said that he started screaming and fighting them as they tried to put it on.  They decided to try a smaller band-aid and Josiah gave in and let them put it on.  I told them that he does not like band-aids and that we had to take the one off of his knee when he cut it, because he would look at it and scream when he saw it.

Josiah was so sleepy and cranky this evenign when we got home, so we put him in bed for a nap while we cooked supper.  We had already planned on cooking spaghetti for supper and I was glad because that is Josiah's favorite meal.  I guess he was still sleepy when he 1st got up because he was super cranky and did not want to eat at all.  He would eat a bite here and there but not like he normally does with spaghetti.

I was starting to get worried that something might really be wrong with him.  I know that it was a good thing that the bump was swelling out, and that the cut was not deep, and that he didn't appear to have a concussion; but something HAD to be wrong for him not to eat speghetti.

We decided to talk a walk and I guess that was what Josiah needed to cheer him up.  Maybe he was mad that I got him out of the buggy at daycare.  He had a good time on our walk.  Trey taught him was the moon is and he loves to point at it and say "moon."  When we got back to the house he was in a much better mood and we gave him his supper again.  This time he chowed down.

I broke the spaghetti in half when I cooked it thinking that would make it easeir for Josiah to eat.  Well I guess I should have left it whole and then cut it up on his plate.  He had fun grabbing a handful and eating a spaghetti nest.

He was feeling much better after supper and we let him stay up and play for a long time.  The little guy is now fast asleep, but I know that he will have a nice bruise and bump on his head in the morning.

I guess we are lucky that he can't see this "bo bo" because the way he is milking his knee scrape, there is no telling what he would do with this one.  You can barely see any pink on his knee anymore but he still points to it, looks all sad, and says "bo bo" in the most pitiful voice that you have ever heard.  He would be supper pitiful with this.

Helping Mommy

Tonight Josiah decided to "help" me with the laundry.  He took the cloths out of the dryer as fast as I could put them in.  He just saw me take the previous load out of the dryer so I guess he thought that is what he needed to do.

After I put all the clothes back in the dryer, I noticed that Josiah kept looking in the dryer.  He would lean into the dryer and look at the same spot.

I decided to see what had caught his attention.  I knelt down to look and this is what I had found.......

He had sat a milk ring up on the ledge in the dryer.  I then got worried at what else he might have put in there.  I dug through the clothes and made sure I saw the 2 little toys that he had been playing with and decided that everything was good.  Josiah shut the door for me and I started the load.  There were no surprised in the dryer when the clothes came out.  I guess I will have a little helper with the laundry from now on.

Pumpkin Patch

My mom and I took Josiah to a pumpkin patch this past Saturday.  He had a blast and did not want to leave when it was time to go.  He was more interested in the big spider and the water hose than he was picking out a pumpkin.

He loved being outside and running all over the place.  He is a very active little boy; he doesn't walk anywhere.  He is running full speed from one place to another.  He would go back and forth to what ever happened to catch his attention.  He really enjoyed playing in the tunnel and the hayride.

The crafts, not so much!.  He did not want to sit still to decorate his pumpkins.  The only thing on the craft table that he was interested in were the Sharpies, and I was not about to let him use them.  So he decided that he wanted to go play.

He did not want to get off the hayride and got a little fussy when we did.  As we were leaving the hayride he saw one of his friends from daycare.  They both waved at each other then gave each other a hug.  This is the little girl that always tells us hi every morning when we walk into the room.

Josiah also decided that he needed to push a little boy around in on of the wagons that they had to help carry pumpkins.  The little boy climbed into the wagon and Josiah started pulling him around.  He even pulled the little boy over to his dad and dropped off the wagon.

He had a really good time, but it wore him out.  He was so sleepy that he kept laying his head on the table at lunch.

Eating with a spoon

Josiah is finally starting to get the hang of eating with a spoon or fork.  Last night he ate his Spaghetti O's with his spoon.  He does much better with a spoon or fork with a fat handle.  I was impressed with how well he did with it.  He still got plenty messy eating them but most of the that made it into his mouth were from the spoon.

He had a little trouble getting them on the spoon, especially as he was finishing up.  He didn't let that phase him; he just used his hand to put them on the spoon.  He is very resourceful and will find a way to make things work for him.

Hot Stuff

Friday I had a workshop in Little Rock so Trey and Josiah got to sleep in.  I know they both loved that; I think they slept till about 7:30 which is an hour and a half later than normal.  Trey got to spend the morning with Josiah and I think that they both loved it.  I now Josiah did, because I got this text....

Trey and Josiah walked down the street to the store and got an Icee.  As you can tell he thought he was something.  I know that they had a good time even without the Icee.

Trey also let Josiah go for a walk on Sunday while I went to the get groceries.  Instead of riding in the wagon, Josiah pulled it.  I know I have said it a million times, but he is getting so big. My little boy is growing up fast.

While walking Josiah fell down and scrapped his knee.  Trey cleaned it up and put a band-aid on it.  When I got home Josiah was still up set about his boo boo.  Every time he would look at it he would start crying, and then I remembered that he did the last time he got his shots.  He would cry and pull at the band-aid when he looked at it.  Once we figured out the band aid was the problem and took it off, he was fine.  I think that Josiah is the only kid in the world that hates band aids.

Getting ready for bed

I bought Josiah some pajamas this afternoon.  It has finally gotten cool here (at least for the time being) and he always kicks his blanket off about 5 minutes after you cover him up.  I only got one pair because I was unsure of how they would fit and they were in a box so I couldn't get an idea if they ran small or not.  I know pjs are suppose to be snug, but we have had some in the past that looked like they were painted on.  I wanted a 2T, but our Wal-Mart doesn't have any 2T cloths for little boys.  They have 24 months (which I know is close to a 2T, but the 2Ts are usually longer) and then they jump to 3T.  There were several cute ones and I decided to let Josiah pick which one he wanted.  I showed him a Lightening McQueen pair and a Buzz Lightyear pair.  He grabbed the one he wanted and threw it in the buggie and handed the other pair back to me.  Which pair did he choose?

He decided that he wanted the Cars pair.  I was impressed that he handed the other pair back to me after he decided which one he wanted.  He is such a big boy.

Speaking of Big Boys, my little monster LOVES to brush his teeth.  He gets excited when he sees me get his little toothbrush and toothpaste out.  He sits or lays down while I brush his teeth, and then he gets to finish brushing them by himself.  Tonight he didn't want to stop brushing his teeth so I was able to get a couple of pictures.

One other big boy note.  Last night as he was finishing up his bath, I opened the drain without him knowing it.  The water slowly drained out as he was playing.  He was scooping up water with a cup and pouring it out.  Once the water got to low for him to scoop it up he noticed that the water had drained out, and he looked at the water then at me and said "gone."  I did not know that he could say gone or that he knew what it ment.  I am constantly amazed at all the things he can do.

Josiah's message

Since Mommy has not posted this I decided that I needed to share these pictures.  Apparently she has been slacking on her blogging lately, so I thought I would help her out.
Mommy got me this new shirt

I'm now sure if I like what it says

Mommy and Daddy are happy about it

I guess everything will be ok
