Fun in the Sun

Warning Picture overload in this post!!!

Wow I meant to post this a long time ago (well sometime last week), but I was busy and tired.  I have been in semi-panic mode to get all my lesson plans done for my maternity leave.   We took Josiah out to play in the sun and discovered that we really need to buy him some summer clothes.  This is probably the 1st time that we will have to go buy him some clothes b/c none of his summer clothes really fit him, and I think he has gotten bigger than all the friends that use to give me hand me downs for him.  Any way I think that the pictures show just how much fun he had playing outside.

He had a great time with his Daddy flying a kite.  Josiah got it caught in the tree, but Trey was able to get it down.

What is that Daddy?

Wow this is cool
Josiah's kite
Flying it all by himself
Uh Oh! Stuck in the tree
He also liked "blowing bubbles" if you could called what he was doing blowing bubbles.  He seemed to blow more of the soap solution that actual bubbles.  Every now and then he would get lucky and a bubble would appear.

Playing with the bubbles
Trying to blow bubbles
Bubble face
Trying again to blow bubbles
Gave up on blowing the bubbles and decided to eat the wand.
I love the look on his face!
After the bubbles Trey decided that Cheeto needed to go for a walk and of course Josiah had to help.

Yes the cat is on a leash
And yes Cheeto is about as big as Josiah
Josiah kept checking to make sure that Cheeto was following him.
All in all we had a great afternoon playing outside.  That may have been why I was so tired this past week, but it was worth it.

Consignment deals

Yesterday we went to Texarkana to check out a Rhea Lana Consignment sale and were able to get some good deals.  I was able to get 2 outfits and a pair of sandals for Josiah and 7 outfits for Elaina all for $39.  I did mess up on the pink dress; it is a 6-9 month size so it may not fit her.  My mom went to a Kool Kids consignment sale in Ruston on Saturday and was able to get several outfits as well.  There is also a Rhea Lana in El Dorado this coming weekend.  After I hit up that sale little Elaina should be set at least through size 6 months.  I just hope that I am able to find some more things for Josiah.  I dug out a pair of his shorts from last summer and they were a little small, but he wore them to play outside today.

Hard to tell but there is another shirt and a pair over overall shorts under
Josiah's outfit
The goodies minus the sandals.  I had already put them in Josiah's
closet and he was asleep.
I have been trying to figure out if my belly is bigger or smaller this time around.  I guess I am about the same size.  The picture with Josiah was take on March 31 and the one of Elaina was taken February 19.  Since he was due about a month after her, they would both be around 32 weeks.  I can't believe that I am already 32 weeks; Josiah was born at 38 weeks.  That means if she follows in her brothers footsteps that she will be here in 6 weeks (8 at the latest).  EKKKKK!  It may be time to freak out a little.
Around 32 weeks

Pancake Pup

The other day I bought a box of the pancake that are wrapped around a sausage that look like corn dogs.  I have always called them pancake pups, because that is what the cafeteria at Stephens called them.  I didn't really think that Josiah would eat them, but I was wrong.

I should have know better, because that was my favorite breakfast when I was pregnant with him.  He was not wanting to wait for his breakfast this morning and I did think them, so I gave him a bowl of cereal.  He loves to eat cereal with milk.

We went ahead and cooked Josiah a pancake pup, because we knew he would take one of ours.  Of course when he saw what we were eating he had to have one.  So Trey gave him his and went and the other one.  Josiah was loving it.

He ate about half of it before he started playing and being silly.  This will defiantly be a weekend breakfast because he ate it so slow.  That and the fact that our oven takes forever to heat up and I know that we will not get up early enough to fix it for us during the week.  Trey tried to cook one in the microwave the other day and it was awful, so it will be a weekend treat.
Josiah is turning into a big ham.  He is just too cute and he knows it.  I love this little boy so so much.

Ear infections & Mr. Cool

Monday I picked Josiah up to find that he had a fever and would scream if you touched his right ear.  We jumped in the car and headed back home.  I knew that our Dr. was out of town this week so I was frantically trying to find a place to take him.

I found out that SMG has a walk-in clinic that was open late, so I took him there.  The receptionist told me that they don't see children under five.  I asked if there was any other place that I could take him besides the ER for an ear infection, and I guess they decided that they could treat him for that.  We got in really fast and he did have an ear infection and was given 2 prescriptions.

Trey decided to take Josiah across the parking lot to check out the motorcycle that was parked and I was going to Wal-Mart to get the meds.  They told me it would take about 30 minutes so I went and did some grocery shopping.  When I walked back to the pharmacy they told me that they couldn't find him in the system.  I gave them 2 prescriptions on 2 different pieces of paper and they found him in the system on 1 of them but not the other because they were spelling his name wrong.  How could you not find one when you could find the other?  So about 20 minutes later I find that they don't even have the antibiotic that he needed.  They kept telling me that they would have it tomorrow.  Hello my son has a 102.9 fever; I don't think that I will wait till the next day.

So I get the ear drops and go pay for the groceries.  I finally leave the store after waiting for over an hour, but I only have the drops no antibiotic.  So I decided to go to Wal-Greens.  Even bigger mistake than going to Wal-mart.  They tell me it will take about 30 minutes.  I WISH!!  After 30 minutes of waiting someone finally comes back to the counter and asks me what I am waiting for.  Hello I gave you a prescription 30 minutes ago; that is what I am waiting on.  She tells me that it will take a while b/c they were making a custom med for someone.  They person got there 20 minutes after me and they were working on his first.  I was beyond frustrated and exhausted.  It was now almost 7:00 pm and I had not been home since I left that morning at 6:30.

I try to keep my frustrations in and not get mad.  Well actually I was about to cry because I was so exhausted.  I kept calling my mom and Trey and venting to them.  I am so thankful that Trey had Josiah I  could not imagine trying to entertain him during this waiting.  I keep thinking they have to be close to getting my meds, but I kept waiting.  Finally at 7:50 I get the medicine, and I swear I only got it then because they were getting ready to close at 8:00.

It only took 2.5 hours and 2 pharmacies, but I finally got the medicine that Josiah needed.  The crazy thing about all this was after the Wal-Mart ordeal I was going to change our meds to Wal-Greens, but after the ordeal there I decided not to.  I just wish that somewhere other than Wal-Mart had the $4 prescriptions, because we have 2 that are $4 and that saves us about $12 a month.

Trey pointed out later that night that I had been praying for patience with my students.  I guess this was a way that God decided that I could work on developing patience.   The medicine started working very fast.  Josiah had a fever when we put him to bed, but when we checked him before we went to bed his fever was gone and it has not returned.

The pictures in the post were taking on Tuesday afternoon.  Josiah decided that he needed to kick back and watch a little TV.  He pulled his chair over to the corner and pulled the end table out so he could prop his feet up.  He was kicked back like he was Mr Cool.  Later that evening he decided that he wanted to watch Imagination Movers on the computer.  He sat over there for the longest time being a big boy watching the videos.

Valentine's getaway

Friday went I got out of school, Trey and I went to Shreveport.  My parents kept Josiah so that Trey and I could have a little getaway.  We had a really nice time just relaxing and spending time together.  This is what we decided to do for Valentine's Day.  We really didn't do a whole lot but it was nice.  Friday night we met up with several of Trey's family members and ate a one of the casinos, and then on Saturday we did a little shopping.  We went to Sam's and got several things that we needed and also got a box of diapers for our little girl.  Since we got some for Josiah last time we were at Sam's he didn't need any, so we decided that we could start stocking up for the baby.  After that we went to the Boardwalk and we bought a few outfits for the baby girl.  I felt a little bad that we didn't get anything for Josiah, but I need to go through his clothes and see what he needs before I start buying things for him.

Nothing to do with the post, but Josiah found Tyler
hiding in the play kitchen.
After we got home we loaded up the bed in the spare bedroom and took it over to my parents when we picked up Josiah.  He was really happy to see us when we drove up.  He was outside playing on the porch and as soon as we got out of the truck he came running saying "daddyyyyyyyyy"  then after a few minutes (and a little encouragement from Trey) he ran to me saying "momma."  We helped the set up the mattress in their spare room and store the frame and then got the futton to put in the baby's room.

Josiah tried to crawl into the smaller compartment.
This morning we went to church and I strated feeling weak so we left early and I came home and took a nap.  Josiah was so sleepy but did not sleep well at all.  We think that he may be getting an ear infection.  He started screaming when Trey touched his right ear.  We are not sure it is his ear or his teeth, because he is drooling like crazy and chewing on anything he can get into his mouth.  If it is his teeth it will be his 2 year molars, which would probably cause him problems with his ears like every other tooth that has came in.  Hopefully he will feel better in the morning, he is actually sleeping right now much better than he did at nap time.
He couldn't fit in the small side so when Tyler got out he
crawled in and shut the door.

Silly boy

Lately Josiah has been obessed with his paci.  If we are at home he will go and find it in his bed and pop it in his mouth.  It all started when we moved him into his toddler bed and we thought maybe it was b/c he had easy access to it during the day, but that was also when he had an ear infection.  The dr said that sucking on a paci could help relieve pressure in his ear, so I am think that may be way he wanted it all the time at first.  He figures out where we hide them and will climb to get them if he can and if not he will stand near them and point and yell paci until we get him one.

However this is taking the paci obession a little far.  He found 2 in the car the other day and popped both of them in his mouth.  He did it again yesterday.  I guess that is his new thing.  It also has me wondering if his 2 year teeth are starting to come in.  He seems to also have the paci on one side or the other and likes to chew on it.

He is my silly little boy and I love him so much.

Fun in the Snow

Friday afternoon we went back out in the snow and Josiah had a lot of fun.  He was very unhappy we he had to come back in.  Here are some more pictures from playing in the snow.

Snow Ice Cream

Yesterday morning when Trey went to weights, I sat a bowl out hoping that we would get the amount of snow they were predicting.  I wanted to make snow ice cream.  The last few times that they predicted snow all we got was a light dusting or ice so no snow ice cream.  This time however the bowl was almost full, so we only had to scoop a little bit off of the picnic table to get the amount we needed.

Paula Deen's recipe: snow, sweetened condensed milk, & vanilla
I vaguely remember having some as a little kid and have always wanted to make it.  I think I remember talking about the snow ice cream more than actually eating it.  So I was really excited to make it yesterday.  I think Trey thought I was crazy, but he went along with my idea.  I guess he thought that he wasn't going to go against a pregnant woman's food cravings, especially one that is so hard to get.  That or the fact that anything that has sweetened condensed milk as the main flavoring couldn't be to bad.

Hey, what is this?
After we got it all mixed up, I fixed Josiah a little bowl.  Which he quickly devoured and was asking for "more, more."  So I gave him some more.  I think that his evening nap may have caused more by a sugar coma than exhaustion from playing in the snow.

It sure is yummy
Trey and I ate the rest of the ice cream, and he agreed that it was super tasty.  Maybe the next time it snows (hopefully next year, we already have 3 snow days to make up), we will get enough to make it again.
