Girls Night In

Well I guess I should have title it Girls and Baby's Night in.

Trey took Josiah to a jr high football game tonight, so Elaina, Bubba Memmett (as she calls him) and I have a fun night at the house.

Emmett was cranky so I laid him down right as Trey and Josiah were slipping out so Elaina wouldn't freak out.  I decided to tell her that they left right after to prevent a melt down later.  I had Netflix on and distracted her with a Princess movie, well I couldn't find a princess movie so we settled for a Strawberry Shortcake with Santa Clause in it.  I guess that is the next best thing to a princess movie.

Shortly into the movie, Emmett woke up and I changed him into his pjs and feed him and he went right back to sleep.  And has been out ever since.  So technically Elaina and I did have a girls night.

After I got Emmett back to sleep, I asked Elaina if she wanted dessert and she choose cookies.  Then she looked up at me with a big smile and asked, "In the wiving room, Momma?"  So I agree and she was so excited (the kids never get to eat in the living room).  She climbed up on the couch and I gave her the cookies.  She ate one and then said "Hey, you didn't get me anything to drink; I need milk."  So I got her some milk and we finished watching Strawberry Shortcake.

After it went off she was ecstatic to get to pick another Netflix (normally the kids have to take turns picking).  She chose a Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, a cartoon remake of Mr Rogers Neighborhood.
So we watched that and then went to take a shower.   Another one of her favorite things; she loves playing in the shower.

After the shower I gave her one of my T-shirts (the kids love sleeping in our shirts) and we are in our bed watching Toy Story 2.  She is so happy right now that she is in our bed, and just looks so cute laying her that I need to get off this computer and snuggle with my little girl.

Ok I had to come back and add this last picture.  She noticed that I had wrapped a towel around my hair and made me take it off and put it on her head.  I love my silly little girl.

Our Little Lefty

When we found out we were having a boy when I was pregnant with Josiah, Trey would joke and say that he was going to be a 6'6" left handed quaterback.  Well he still has a chance to be a 6'6" quaterback, but he will not be a left handed one.

Elaina is our little lefty.  We have noticed that she does a lot of things with her left hand when she is playing.  She also feed herself much better with her left hand (less mess and can get food out of bowl better).  I also noticed that when I paint her finger nails that the left hand is always the first to get all chipped up.

We have started to encourage her to use her left hand since she is showing a preference to it.  Trey had shown her once how to bat left handed off the tee and she remembered and now hits the ball that way when she bats.

She will watch us with somethings (like eating or writing) and switch hands, but we just remind her that she does better with the other hand and she switches back.

While she has gotten the batting down, I think we need to work on her sports wardrobe.  She always puts the helmet on backwards.  I think it is because it is so big that she puts in on that way so the bill will fall down on her neck and not cover her eyes like it would if she at it on properly.

These pictures were of the kids and Trey playing ball in the yard on Labor Day.  The were so excited that their dad had a morning off and that they could play.  Emmett on the other had decided that he would make the most of his Labor Day by taking an extra long morning nap.

He did have a fun time playing later in the day, while his big bother and big sister napped.  Sometimes a boy just needs to play in peace without a crazy brother and sister around.

cat photo bomb

If it isn't hard enough to get a picture of all 3 of my children, try adding a ornery cat to the mix.

My kids were playing in the living room while I was working in the kitchen.  Josiah was entertaining Emmett and Elaina was doing her own thing.  I thought it was make a great picture if I could sneak and get one before they knew what I was doing.

I grabbed my camera and got the perfect angle and click.  This is what I got this

As soon as the picture snapped Cheeto jumped up on the bar and all I got was a picture of him.

My surprise attack was blown, but I was able to snap a few pictures of the kids playing.
Josiah is showing Emmett were Japan is on his globe

Later in the day I was able to sneak a few more and this time the cat didn't get in the way.

A day at the park

Today the weather was great outside so we went to the park to play and feed the ducks.  We started out feeding the ducks.  I let the kids throw pieces of bread to the ducks and geese.

Of course once you start feeding them, they all start rushing you and you are surround by ducks and geese in a matter of seconds.  Of course the geese start hissing and that freaks Josiah out.  I will admit that they are a little evil looking when they hiss at you.  After getting Josiah to stop screaming because a goose hissed at him, I noticed that Elaina was pouting.

I asked her what was wrong and she held her finger up and said "the big duck bite me."  I looked at her finger and didn't see anything but she kept pointing at the same goose and saying that it bit her.  Josiah said that the goose pecked her so now she says a geese bite me.

Emmett didn't care anything about the ducks.  He just sat in the stroller and looked like he was bored with the whole ordeal.

She keeps saying she doesn't like big ducks or geese that they are not her friends.  After finishing up feed the ducks we headed over to the play ground.  The kids had a blast playing.  They kept telling me to close my eyes so they could hide in the slides.

Thank goodness for sunglasses; the kids thought I had my eyes closed and I could watch them to make sure that they were safe.  After playing for a while we ate our lunch (way away from the ducks) and then they went and played some more.

Elaina made a friend and ran around with her for awhile.  She was running about a step behind the little girl saying wait for me wait for me.  She was climbing up all the ladders and such having a blast.  My little girl is growing so big.

Josiah surprisingly had fun playing by himself.  He usually wants someone to play with but today he was fine by himself.  I was really surprised that there wasn't more people at the park, but there were only a few kids at different times.  Even when there was a boy there he didn't act like he wanted to play with him.  He ran and climbed and had a good time by himself.

Emmett decided that the park was a great place to take a nap.  He enjoyed the fresh air and the fact that it was not so hot.  He was able to stay cool and take a nap outside.

Emmett's First Football Game

A few weeks ago Springdale host its annual pigskin preview.  This is were the teams in the district play inter-squad scrimmages and you can see all the teams at one time.  Well two days this year; they splint it up so there were 2 jr high and 1 high school team each day.

I always take the kids early so they can walk around with Trey and have fun before the Bulldogs play.  We stayed until Trey had to go back to the field house and get ready for the high school game.

The kids had fun and were not to excited to leave, but I promised them that we would be back soon.  Springdale won its season opener this past Friday, but we were not at the game.  It was 5 hours away and I was not about to attempt that by myself.

I might be crazy to take 3 kids to a football game by myself, but there was no way I was going to make a 5 hour drive, sit through a football game, then drive 5 hours home.  I hope that when we get to go to a game in a few weeks (more away games before their 1st home game) that they all do well.  I am a little concerned about Emmett; he likes to go to bed by 7 and the games don't start till 7:30.

Bad Mommy

My mommy never posted my 3 month post.  I was mad at her at first, but I finally told her that since I would be 4 months old the end of this week that she might as well wait till I after my doctors appointment and just do a 4 month post.

I forgave her for not posting it ( and not much of anything lately) because she is always doing things for me and my brother and sister.  Most of these things look really fun.  She better continue all this once I get big enough to do things.

She lets me sit in the cool exersaucer thing and play with lots of toy.

If only she would quit taking my thumb out of my mouth and giving me a paci.  Guess I will just have to be sneakier about sucking my thumb.

Sending Daddy to school

The big kids and Trey were wrestling and playing in the living room, when Elaina decided that it was time for Trey to go to school.  She made him put on a pack pack (backpack) and walked him to her room.

She told him to sit down on her bed and then went and left and shut the door and said "bye, see you later."

Trey set there for a little while and then decided that it was time to leave.  She yelled at him, "no, school not over."  She then shut the door.

Trey and Josiah sat in there for a while and then tried to leave again.  Josiah was able to escape

But Trey?  Nope, not so lucky.  She got really upset and started yelling school not over when he tried to leave.

Josiah even tried to help him, but nothing seemed to work.  Finally  Trey just told her that school was over and left.  She was so heartbroken that she just sat in the floor crying.

Note to anyone reading this play school with Elaina at your own risk.  If you do you may end up in school for the rest of the day.

First Day of Preschool

This year I thought I would print on of the First day of preschool signs and take pictures of the kids before we went to preschool Tuesday morning.

Well it didn't go as "perfect" as I was hoping.  I don't really know what made me think that I would be able to get a nice smiling picture of my kids holding their signs and smiling all nice for the photo.  First the red part that said preschool didn't print and I most have had a moment of temporary insanity if I thought my kids were going to stand still next to each other to get the "perfect" picture.  I couldn't even get them to stand somewhere that the sun wouldn't be blinding them.

But after I finally got all the pictures, I realized these were the "perfect" pictures because it is them.  Not some fake staged photograph that makes them look like perfect little still angels.  While I love my kids to death and they are perfect for me, they are never perfect still angles.

While Elaina did choose all one her own a cute girly outfit, she would not let me brush her hair, and I am ok with that.  I did freak out a little when I asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up and she said pretty.  My mind zoomed a million miles an hour on how to teacher about true beauty and that she is pretty.  Ok, I was starting to freak out that a 2 year would think that being pretty would be a good thing to be. I asked her what did you say you wanted to be when you grow up and she said  a pretty princess.  Whew, my blood pressure and brain functions returned to normal.  We are always telling her she is our pretty princess, especially when she is wearing her princess dress up clothes.  As usually I was freaking out for nothing; it is completely normal for a 2 year old to want to be a pretty princess when she grows up.

Josiah choose his clothes to wear to and I am sure that his shirt choice influenced his career choice.  I asked him first what he wanted to be and he said superman so I wrote that down.  Then after he saw me filling out Elaina's he decided to add some more.  Who says you can only be one  thing when you grow up (and I pretty sure that Superman can do anything he wants).  So when he added things he said he wanted to be super man, and a ninja, a recycle man, a worker, and a football player.  The he said something else that I didn't understand because I was trying to write as fast as he was talking and had ran out of room.  He was watching me and said "hey, you didn't write that down.  I need more options"  so I quickly wrote the part about needing options and he was happy.  I thought it was funny that he told me he needed more options.

I didn't print a sign for Emmett since he is just in the nursery at preschool.  I wanted to get a picture of him with the kids but I could get them to stand still to put his car sit by them.  The only time Elaina wanted to stand by Josiah was when I tried to get one of him by himself and if Elaina was in the picture with Josiah, he was going to hold the sign in front of his face or something silly. So there was no chance of getting one with Emmett, Elaina, and Josiah together.  So, I just got a picture of him playing in the nursery.

They may be silly and not the "perfect" picture that I had in my head, but I love my back to school pictures, because they are "real" which makes them "perfect" to me.
