Last week we met a group of friends and toured the Shiloh Museum. The guide was great at keeping it entertaining for preschoolers. The museum has several settler era building and relics. The kids all enjoyed looking in and exploring some of them. It was interesting to learn some of the early history of our town.
The kids loved the Lincoln Logs and period toys that they had inside that they could play with. None of them wanted to wear the dress up clothes though. After we finished exploring the museum we went to a park and had lunch. The kids loved that they got to play with their friends even more.
Later in the week we went to an Insect Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. It was really crowded and geared for school age children, but we still had fun. I didn't realize that it would be so crowded and a lot of standing in lines, so I thought it would be a good idea to carry Emmett and let him walk. He got really heavy by the time we left.
Their favorite part was the Hissing Cockroach races. They loved seeing them run down the track. There were several live species for them to see and a huge collection of preserved ones for them to see. They also enjoyed looking at the game and fish commissions aquarium.
