My little helmet.

Josiah has slept very well since he was born. He slept through the night from about 1 month old. He decided very early that he loved to sleep the right side of his head and that no matter what we did to try to prevent it he was going to sleep that way. He developed a flat spot on his head from always sleeping the same way. Our dr sent us the the Arkansas Children's Hospital to get him checked out. We went up there the end of October & they told us that everything is ok with his skull & brain, but he needed a helmet to correct the flat spot. We went back Friday to pick up his helmet.

Waiting to go get the helmet

He had to wear it in the PT office for about 20 minutes to test the fit. He was not too happy at that time. It was a little low over his ear & the padding had to adjusted in several places. He was fussy & not very happy in the office, but I think the main reason was that he didn't want to be held and we were holding him.

What is this thing on my head?

This is my mean face. You won't like it when I bite you!

The Physical therapist put lip stick all over his forehead & then put the helmet back on to see where it needed to be adjusted. The lip stick transferred from his head to the helmet & showed exactly where the padding need to be adjusted. After the adjustments were made Josiah was much happier with the helmet. After the break in period he will wear the helmet for 23 hours a day.

We are going to get the helmet painted blue & put the SAU Mulerider logo on it so it will look like a baby football helmet. we tried to get it airbrushed at the mall Friday but the guy said that it would take him over 3 weeks to get it done. He was not doing anything when we walked into the store; I think if I was that far behind that I would be working to try to get caught up. But that is just me. We are hoping that we can find someone in Magnolia that can paint it up for us.

  1. Talk to the art department at SAU. If they can't do it, they may know someone who can.
