It's begining to look a lot like Christmas

Since it was raining Sunday, we cancelled the plan to get the outside lights up and put up the tree.  The kids were beyond excited.  They could hardly wait for Trey to get the tree together before decorating.

I love that the kids are old enough to decorate to tree.  We had to help Emmett a little and put any of them that they wanted up high on the tree.  Trey put the hooks on the ornaments and handed them to the kids.  They put the ornaments where they wanted them and it looks great.  I love that most of the ornaments that we use are ones that the have made over the years.
Crying because there are no pacis when decorating a tree

This has been one of the least stressful years of tree decorating.  The more the kids can do the less it stresses me.  If they like how it looks and are proud of it then it looks perfect to me.  No more trying to make sure that the tree is perfectly fluffed out and that all the ornaments are balanced around tree.

It was fun watching them laugh and run and put the ornaments one the branches.  Of course we had to end with Josiah placing his special ornament on the tree; a sock.  When Josiah was 2 he would every time he took off his socks he would throw them into the tree.  Finally we decided to leave one and he stopped throwing them at it.  When we took our tree down that year Trey got a marker and wrote Josiah initials on it and the year and we added our Christmas decorations.  Now it is last thing that goes on the tree before the star.

The kids were so proud of their work.  This morning Elaina ran in the living room to turn the lights on it first thing.  Decorating for Christmas is so much more fun now that the kids are in charge of the tree.
