Touch a Truck

A local charity hosted their annual Touch a Truck event.  The idea behind the event is that there are all kids of  "trucks" for the kids to "play" with.  There was everything from construction equipment to firetrucks and swat team trucks to a helicopter.  To say that Josiah had a BLAST would be a huge understatement.  When we drove up he kept saying "Oh Wow, oh wow."  I think that he was experiencing sensory overload, bc he didn't know where he wanted to start.  We finally got him to one corner and started out with a firetruck.
They gave him a construction hat when we got to the event and he kept calling it his fireman hat.  When he climbed up in the firetruck to drive it, he said that he needed his fireman hat.  I got so tickled bc he put it on backwards so that it actually looked like a fireman's hat.  I guess it is the wrong color but in Springdale the actual fire trucks are yellow.
He did a really good of waiting his turn and "sharing;" he would drive the truck for a few minutes and then get off and let the next kid drive.  The only thing that he did not like were all the horns and sirens.  He is going through a stage where noises really bother him (and they don't even have to be that loud).  He was about to jump off the motorcycle when the guy started it up with him on it.  He was starting it so that he could turn on the lights and sirens, but Josiah did not like that at all.

His absolute favorite thing was the crane.  He saw that when we first drove up and he said that is what he wanted to go see.  This was the only one that he got a little impatient waiting for his turn.  When it was finally his turn he was so excited to climb up and play with all the levers; he also didn't want to get off of it when it was time to  go to the next one.  I think he would have stayed on it all day if we would have let him.
He also got to build a little tool box from the Home Depot.  They had a few of there projects out there and he wanted to build a tool box.  Trey helped him glue the pieces and get the nails started, but he hammered them all in by himself.  He was proud of his tool box.
We had a great time and can't wait till next year.  I know that we will have 2 little ones climbing over all the trucks.  This is a great idea for a fundraiser; it is inexpensive to host and the kids LOVE it.  I am sure that is would be a success in any area.
