Today we had our end of the year celebration for Preschool coop. I was a little concerned with how Emmett was going to do on the way over there he kept yelling "I no pet animals" and he is terrified of my parents dog. This past week he would scream and shake every time the dog looked at him. When we first got there he was not real happy. He did not like that the kangaroos were right on the path. He kept trying to shoo them away and he wanted to go chase the chickens.
The other kids were all over the place. They were going from one area to the other. Mainly chasing after their friends that had gotten there before us. We finally got everyone settled down and meet up with some other friends that had also just arrived.
Once Emmett got a chance to feed the kangaroos, he decided that they were ok. Thankfully the worker that feeds them was in there when we were. After feeding them he was happy with them. I don't think that he would pet one but he liked feeding them and stopped shooing them away.
Elaina liked feeding the goats the best. She really had a lot of fun with her friends and checking out all the animals. She got a little mad when a deer tried to steal her food bag. It didn't want the bread that she was trying to feed it and tried to get to the feed down in the bottom of the bag.
Josiah was all over the place. He liked feeding the animals, but his favorite part was seeing 2 of the little monkeys fighting. He would just laugh and laugh at them wrestling around the cage. (Yes it was just wrestling. The peacocks were the ones trying to mate, which allowed the kids to see the all the pretty feathers. Thankfully that was all they saw). He also got to hold a snake. He was the only one of mine that would. Elaina wanted nothing to do with it and Emmett was to busy throwing dirt (which was more than likely poop) at a cat.
After the petting zoo we ate lunch and then went on the drive through part. I let the kids out of their seats for that part so they thought that was cool, especially Emmett. We also had 2 friends riding with us, so that made it extra cool. The kids got over the safari rather quickly. They did like that the Emus would walk right up to the windows and stare at them and that the zebra used the mirror to scratch its ears. I think they were all tired and starting to get cranky. I had to stop a little over half way through it and climb into the back and buckle Emmett in his seat, because he was climbing up on the back seat to jump off. He threw a little fit about that, but he was so tired that he didn't have the energy to fuss long. After that we drove past the hippos and big cats so that helped get the kids attention.
After the safari we dropped our friends off and headed home. Today was a great day and it didn't rain at all. We were all tired and should sleep good tonight.
