Last weekend we went to the Naturals game. The Naturals are the AA affiliate of the KC Royals. We knew that Josiah would have a blast and hoped that Elaina would like it too. As soon as we decided to go we started telling Josiah that he was going to a baseball game. Every time that we told him that he was going to a game he would say "I catch a ball." We keep telling him that he might.
When we went to the game it was hot, but we had really good seat. We were about 4 rows up and right next to the 3rd base dugout. In fact we were so close that the Springfield Cardinals 2nd baseman pointed out Elaina to another guy in the dugout and I heard him tell the other guy "What a cute baby." Elaina seemed to enjoy the game. She was just looking around taking everything in. She even took a little nap during the game.
Another perk of being that close to the dug was that Josiah got a baseball. Ryan Jackson, the SS, tossed the ball up to Trey for Josiah.
There was a foul ball hit over at the dugout and Josiah was jumping up and down saying ball. Trey loudly told Josiah that if he asked the guy he might give the ball to him. Josiah looked at him and said something and sure enough, he tossed the ball to him
I wish I could have gotten a picture of Josiah's face, he was beaming from ear to ear. I was not able to get a picture of his smile b/c 1) he kept putting the ball in front of his face like the above picture and 2) he was watching the game and wouldn't look at me.
He also had plenty of opportunities to dance when they played music between innings. He would get up and cut a rug.
The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders were at the game. Josiah loved dancing when they danced.
I keep joking with Trey that we need to put the boy in dance class. Trey said that he could take ballet to help work on feet skills for other sports. I just don't think that ballet would play the music he likes to dance to. Josiah got a little restless at one point so Trey took Josiah to the kids zone to play. He also liked watching Strike the mascot run around.
We actually made it through the whole game. Josiah was so proud of his ball that he slept with it that night. Although we had to take it away from him first thing in the morning bc he threw it in the house. We are going to get him a shelf to put up in his room for him to start putting his little treasures on.
