A couple of weeks ago we went to watch the Naturals (AA affiliate of KC Royals) play. We had went earlier in the year and the kids were terrified of the Mascots, Strike the Sasquatch and Sinker the Beaver Lake Monster. Josiah had been telling us that since he turned 4 that he would not be scared of Strike, because 4 year olds are not scared of Mascots. I wasn't very convinced that would be the case.
We made sure that we went to a Friday night so that Josiah could see the fireworks after the game. The weather was perfect for a game. They shot off a few off after the National Anthem and Elaina was not happy.
The kids did great. Emmett slept most of the time and we took Josiah and Elaina to the playground that they have behind the center field wall to play for a few innings. Elaina found her a couple of kids to follow around and she was so happy. Josiah played for a few minutes and then went to stand by the fence to watch the game,
On the way to the playground I stopped to change Emmett's diaper and came out of the bathroom just in time to see this.
Trey said that Josiah saw Sinker and asked to have his picture made with him. He was a little unsure of him during the picture, but was so proud of himself afterwards. When he saw me he ran to me and said, "Momma, I got my picture made with sinker. See I told you 4 yr olds aren't scared of mascots."
After playing we returned to our seats and watched the rest of the game. Shortly after the game they set off the fireworks. Josiah was a little insure at first but soon warmed up to them and LOVED the display. Elaina did not like the at all. She made us cover her ears and kept saying fireworks loud. As soon as they started she started SCREAMING, thankfully she soon stopped then a little while later she stopped crying too. We made a big deal of all the pink and purple and told her they were princess fireworks. She soon stopped crying and enjoyed them as long as her ears where covered. Emmett didn't seem to be bothered by them at all.
