New York, New York

While in Philly we decided to take the train to NYC.  We went with a few friends that were also attending the NATA convention.  We happened to be eating supper with the other couple the night before when we got a call saying that our train had been cancelled.  We were rescheduled for an earlier train; we had to get up at 4:30 to make it to the station in time for our train.  We thought Josiah would go back to sleep on the train since he had to get up so earlier, but we were wrong; the boy was wide awake and showed out.  We all decided to sit in the dining car area, because it was empty and we could sit together.  Josiah had a captive audience and loved it.I am glad I got a chance to see the city, but one day was not enough.  It really wore us out getting up so and not returning to the hotel till after midnight.

We were tourist all the way.

We were going to go to the Today Show, but decided to go to the Statue of Liberty first thing (at the advice of our bus tour guide) and that took half the day.  I felt bad b/c Trey really wanted to go to the Today Show (but I guess he was ok b/c Al was gone doing his special where he helps charities).  I even wore my "Be a Mulerider" shirt thinking that would get us on TV.  But you can't go to New York without seeing the Lady Liberty.

We did make it Rockefeller Plaza later in the day.  I really thought the ice skating rink (in winter it would be in the area behind the flags) would have been larger.  It looks so much bigger on TV.

Of course we didn't get to see it all but we got to see some of the highlights  Josiah won't remember any of it but at least he can say that he has been to New York City.

What is Josiah giving this evil look too?
